Well a good strategy is, that i personally use, when i was affliction is, i would do all my DPS on them, most of them are instant. Depending on the situation. Curses are cool, but you can only use one at a time. I have one that makes them really really weak against shadow. but during combat i would alternate curses. I would start with Curse of Weakness which drastically lowers there attack. During that time i would throw out Corruption and Immolate, both are good DPS. one does fire damage the other is shadow. if i have more than one on me i try to do both of them while my felguard directs thier aggro.
Then i use Howl of Terror to make em run around like crazy, at that point i switch one's curse to Curse of Agony which is another DPS and the other i hit with Curse of Shadows. I start pummeling the one who has curse of shadows with shadow bolt. since it makes them horribly weak against shadow attacks. Once i get thier life low enough i'd normally use Shadowburn as my finisher. it blasts them usually for an instant 600-800 damage. By the time the fear wears off i got the other guy which is probably dead already fromt he felguard, if not i switch his curse to shadows and finish him off.
